Amy Likar
Amy Likar is a member of the Oakland East Bay Symphony. As a freelance flautist, Dr. Likar has performed with the Berkeley Symphony, the Ashland Symphony, the Wheeling Symphony, and Donald Pippin’s Pocket Opera, as well as in numerous chamber music venues. In 2005, Dr. Likar performed on three world premieres by composers Anthony McDonald, Polly Moller and Matt Ingalls. She released her first solo CD in November of 2005 with pianist Miles Graber.
Dr. Likar holds Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s in Music Education and Flute Performance from
Amy Likar has studied the Alexander Technique for over 10 years and received her AmSAT certification and training from the Alexander Training Institute of San Francisco. As a certified Andover Educator, Dr. Likar has presented "What Every Musician Needs to Know About the Body" at The Ohio State University,
Dr. Likar maintains an active studio and coaches young students to professionals. She works with singers and instrumentalists on enhancing greater freedom and ease both physically and musically.
