Comings
and Goings:
Q. I will be late in arriving and/or must leave early. Is that alright?
A. The
theater is initimate and is designed in way that may make entering and exiting during class distracting for the teacher and performers.
(The stage is not elevated or separated from the seats.) For this reason, you will want to be sure you are comfortable
before you take your seat for the event. If you arrive late or have stepped out for some reason, our volunteer ushers
may ask you to enter through the upstairs door and watch temporarily from the balcony.
This
is a full-day class and not a drop-in event, however, we know that some musicians have matinee performances and can stay only
for the morning session. If you cannot stay for the afternoon session, please let us know in advance.
Q.
What is the schedule for the day? Is there reserved seating? When does the theater open?
A.
Check-in is between 9:00 and 10:00 in the COPIA Theater lobby. The theater doors will open at approximately 9:40 for registrants
to take their seats. Several rows in the front are reserved for the class performers and VIP's. The rest of
the seating is unassigned.
Here is an approximate schedule for the day:
Class begins at 10:00, with adults and teens together in the COPIA Theater. Group warm-ups will be during the first hour of
the class. Teen Event enrollees will leave the theater at 11:00, for a teen masterclass with Lady Galway in the Staglin Room,
lasting until 1:00. During this same time, Sir James will lead the adult masterclass in the theater, working with individual
performers.
The lunch break is from 1:00 - 1:40 for teens, and from 1:00
- 2:00 for adults. Lunch may be purchased at COPIA in the Garden Cafe or in Julia's Kitchen restaurant.
Teen Event participants reconvene from 1:40 - 3:30 for their afternoon session, which includes flute choir rehearsal. Adults
recovene for the afternoon session of Sir James' class from 2:00 - 3:30 in the theater.
At 3:30, there will be a brief concert, which includes a performance by the teens followed by a short performance by the Galways.
Class ends at 4:00 and is followed by autorgraphs and photos with the Galways in COPIA's lobby.
